Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hotel Charges.

46. Mr. Fox and Mr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when sanction was sought for an increase in hotel charges; and what factors influenced his decision to allow the increases.

Mr. Lalor: My approval was not sought for the increase in hotel charges which has recently been announced.

There is a doubt whether the prices legislation gives me any function in regard to these charges but I am having this aspect examined and if it appears that I have the power I will be prepared to arrange for an investigation of the necessity for the increase proposed.
