55. Mr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce legislation providing for the abolition of the death penalty.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Haughey): The answer is no.

[42] Mr. Sherwin: Is it the Minister's intention then to continue to employ an English hangman, if there is another execution?

An Ceann Comhairle: That is a separate question.

Mr. Sherwin: It is an important one.

Mr. Haughey: Will the Deputy volunteer?
