29. Mr. Corish asked the Minister for Finance the number of companies managed and controlled from abroad which are liable to corporation profits tax, and the profits of these companies on which corporation profits tax was assessed in the years 1958-59 and 1959-60.

Dr. Ryan: The number of companies managed and controlled abroad which were assessed to Corporation Profits Tax in the year ended the 31st [695] March, 1959, was 114 and in the year ended the 31st March, 1960, the number was 115. The profits of these companies on which Corporation Profits Tax was assessed in the years mentioned amounted to £4,333,400 and £4,426,500 respectively.
