Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conditions of Showing of Film.

12. Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Justice whether the film censor granted a certificate limiting the viewing of the film The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll to persons over eighteen years of age; if so, whether it will be an offence for cinema managements to admit persons under eighteen years to showings of the film; if not, whether the [8] film censor has come to any understanding with film renters that the film will not be shown to persons under eighteen years of age; and what steps can be taken to ensure that such an understanding will be respected.

Mr. Traynor: The Appeal Board heard an application against the Film Censor's decision refusing to certify that the picture in question was fit for exhibition in public and decided that a certificate should be granted for patrons over the age of 18 years; the answer to the second part of the question is in the affirmative and, in consequence, the other parts of the question do not arise.
