Dáil Éireann - Volume 134 - 12 November, 1952 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification. Mr. Ormonde Mr. Ormonde Mr. Ormonde asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the high percentage of acceptances shown by the local and official canvass carried out in connection with the rural electrification scheme in the townlands of Windgap, Killongford and Glanmore, Dungarvan, he will request the Electricity Supply Board to link up these districts with the Shandon area, Dungarvan, to which they are convenient. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: I have been informed by the Electricity Supply Board that it is investigating the possibility of supplying electricity to the townlands of Windgap, Killongford and Glanmore, by way of an extension to the Shandon area. Pending completion of its investigations the board is not, however, in a position to say if such an extension will be feasible. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass 1273 Mr. Lemass: I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the most recent review of areas in the Tralee district for development under the [1273] rural electrification scheme revealed that the Lixnaw area had failed to qualify for selection in priority to other areas in the same district. While the question of the development of the Lixnaw area in competition with other areas will be reconsidered from time to time by the Electricity Supply Board, the board is unable to state when development is likely to take place. Cormac Ua Breisleáin Cormac Ua Breisleáin Cormac Ua Breisleáin asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether the Electricity Supply Board have decided to extend a supply of electricity to the Edeninfagh area, Glenties, County Donegal; and, if so, when. Mr. Rooney Mr. Rooney Mr. Rooney asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether the Electricity Supply Board have finally decided to provide rural electrification in the district which includes Naul, Garristown, Ardcath and Kilmoon; and, if so, if he will indicate the date on which work in the area will begin. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the question of the selection of the Garristown area, which includes Kilmoon, and the Ardcath area, which includes Naul, for development under the rural electrification scheme has been considered on a number of occasions but has had to be postponed because of the unsatisfactory financial return. I am also informed that a recanvass of the residents has recently been made and that the results will be taken into account when the areas will be reconsidered for selection towards the end of this year. It is not possible at this stage to say when the development of the areas is likely to take place. Dáil Éireann 134 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. Rural Electrification. Questions 19521112
