Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gorey Unemployment.

Breanndán Mac Fheórais asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the unusual unemployment in the Gorey area, he will make available a special grant to relieve unemployment.

[395] Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance (Mr. Beegan): The moneys available in the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote are intended primarily to provide a spell of employment during the winter months for men who are in receipt of unemployment assistance.

Gorey has received its Pro rata share of the moneys available under the Vote for the current financial year, and I have no further funds at my disposal from which an additional grant could be allocated.
