Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farmers' Petrol Rebate.

Mr. Finan asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of rebate given for each gallon of petrol supplied to farmers for agricultural purposes, i.e., for use in tractors, petrol engines, etc., during the year 1951 and the total rebate for the year.

Mr. MacEntee: Repayment of duty in respect of petrol used in agricultural tractors and engines for agricultural purposes during the year 1951 was at the rate of 6d. per gallon on petrol purchased prior to 3rd May, 1951, and 8d. per gallon on petrol purchased on or after that date. The total amount repaid in the year 1951 was £47,805 9s. 1d.
