Dáil Éireann - Volume 119 - 09 March, 1950 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyporeen Drainage. Mr. Timoney Mr. Timoney Mr. Timoney asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the river at Ballyporeen Bridge, County Tipperary, is badly in need of dredging, and whether he will direct the attention of the appropriate local authority to the matter at an early date. Mr. Timoney Mr. Timoney 1579 Mr. Timoney asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Ballyporeen to Mitchelstown road, which is a bus route, and the Ballyporeen to Araglen roads are in a very bad condition, and whether he will take the matter up with the local authority with a view to having the [1579] necessary work begun on these roads without delay. Mr. Corish Mr. Corish Mr. Corish: With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together. I have no information on these matters. I am, however, sending a copy of each of the Deputy's questions to the local authority. Mr. Timoney Mr. Timoney Mr. Timoney: I wonder would the Parliamentary Secretary, when he is bringing this matter to the notice of the local authority, also mention that much more needs to be done than the dredging of the river at Ballyporeen Bridge? Since my question was sent into the office it has been brought to my notice that the doing of the work set out in the question would not be sufficient, and that work over a much greater area would have to be done. Mr. Corish Mr. Corish Mr. Corish: I might also suggest to the Deputy that he should bring this matter to the notice of the local authority, but, as I have promised, I shall convey the information which he has now given to me, together with the information contained in the question.
