Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the Government has yet decided on any scheme to facilitate rural labourers in acquiring the freehold of their cottages at present rented from the local authorities. Dr. Ward Dr. Ward 323 [323] Dr. Ward: It is proposed to set up a committee to inquire into and report on this matter as soon as possible. Mr. Davin Mr. Davin Mr. Davin: Will the Parliamentary Secretary state whether he has received any representations from the Cottage Tenants' Association with a view to receiving a deputation in support of the matter mentioned in the question? Dr. Ward Dr. Ward Dr. Ward: We have received representations from various branches of the Cottage Tenants' Association. I cannot at the moment state if we have received representations from any body authorised to speak in the name of the entire organisation, but these bodies will be given a full opportunity to make any representations they desire before the committee reports. Mr. Davin Mr. Davin Mr. Davin: Will the Parliamentary Secretary make further inquiries as to whether his predecessor received such a request and will he, as successor to Deputy Mulcahy, favourably consider the question of meeting the deputation referred to? Mr. Anthony Mr. Anthony Mr. Anthony: Has the Parliamentary Secretary received any communication from a body of cottagers in Cork City and County? Dr. Ward Dr. Ward Dr. Ward: I am not aware.
