Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parcel Traffic in Saorstát.

[1598] Mr. Davin asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the fact that omnibus and parcel-carrying companies in the Saorstát are now conveying and delivering a large amount of the parcel traffic formerly dealt with by the Post Office, and whether he intends to introduce proposals for legislation to secure a State monopoly for the conveyance and delivery of such parcel traffic through the Post Office as obtains in the case of letters.

Mr. Heffernan: I have no reason to believe that parcel traffic has to any material extent been diverted from the Post Office to omnibus or other parcel-carrying companies.

The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
