Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Finance to state how many applications were received arising out of the advertisement of June, 1931, for a Deputy Commissioner of Valuation; how many of the applicants were qualified, and if an appointment has been made, and if he is aware that applications for the appointment had to be accompanied by a fee of £2. Mr. Blythe Mr. Blythe Mr. Blythe: The Civil Service Commissioners inform me that 10 applications were received for the post referred to and that, after consideration of the report of the Board by whom the candidates were interviewed, they were unable to recommend the appointment of any of the applicants. No appointment to the post has yet been made. I am aware that applicants had to pay a fee of the amount stated. Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe: May I ask the Minister is the position going to be readvertised in the near future or is it to be held over for a considerable time? Mr. Blythe Mr. Blythe Mr. Blythe: I do not think it will be advertised within the near future. Other steps may be taken to find a person. Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe Mr. Briscoe: Would the Minister have any objection to stating if there is an official in another Department for whom this vacancy will be held over?
