Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney 396 [396] Mr. Blaney asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries to state whether any consideration has been given to resolutions passed at a meeting of the clergy of the Raphoe Diocese, Co. Donegal, regarding the slow rate of progress of the Gaeltacht Housing Scheme in that county, and, if so, will the Minister state whether any steps have been taken to speed up the work in connection with this scheme in Donegal. Minister for Lands and Fisheries (Mr. Lynch) Fionán Lynch Minister for Lands and Fisheries (Mr. Lynch): The staff of surveyors dealing with applications from County Donegal under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act, 1929, had been strengthened in March of this year, and I am satisfied that the rate of progress in dealing with applications from that county since that date has been satisfactory. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: Does the Minister seriously suggest that he is satisfied with the rate of progress? Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch: Absolutely. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: Then I must say that the Minister is easily satisfied. Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch: Does the Deputy know anything at all about the rate of progress in Donegal? Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: I know very well, and the Minister himself knows very well, if only he will admit it, that the progress there is very slow, and if the Minister is at all serious about this matter he should make some effort to speed up the work.
