Dáil Éireann - Volume 39 - 16 July, 1931 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Grants. Mr. Cassidy (for Mr. O'Connell) Mr. Cassidy (for Mr. O'Connell) Mr. Cassidy (for Mr. O'Connell) asked the Minister for Education whether any grants have been made available for the building of new schools or the repairing of existing schools since 31st March, 1931; and, if so, if he will state the number of such grants and the amount; if not, is he in a position to say when any such grants will be available. Professor O'Sullivan Professor O'Sullivan 2168 Professor O'Sullivan: As indicated in the reply to the previous question, the amount of grants sanctioned by my Department prior to 31st March, 1931, which have not yet been expended is considerably in excess of the amount appearing on the Vote for Public [2168] Works and Buildings to make provision for the building and improvement of schools in the current financial year. Consequently, no further additional grants for the building of new schools or the improvement of existing schools have been sanctioned by my Department since 31st March, 1931.
