Séamus O Riain Séamus O Riain Séamus O Riain asked the Minister for Defence whether his Department has purchased any foreign oats within the last twelve months; and, if so, whether quotations were sought for Irish oats; what were the comparative quotations for Irish and foreign; what quantity of foreign oats was purchased, and what was the country of origin. Minister for Defence (Mr. D. Fitzgerald) Desmond FitzGerald Minister for Defence (Mr. D. Fitzgerald): No foreign oats was purchased by the Department of Defence within the last twelve months. The remaining parts of the Deputy's question do not therefore arise. Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan: Would the Minister like to see a sample of foreign oats that was delivered to the Army? Mr. Fitzgerald Mr. Fitzgerald Mr. Fitzgerald: No foreign oats was purchased by us. It does sometimes happen that foreign oats are delivered, but in these circumstances we have in our contract arranged to return them at the expense of the contractor.
