Mr. Harris asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of unemployed persons registered at each Labour Exchange in County Kildare, as on 30th June, 1931, and on the corresponding dates in 1929 and 1930; and if he can give an estimate of the number of agricultural labourers unemployed in County Kildare on the same dates.

Mr. McGilligan: The total numbers of persons registered as unemployed at the local offices of my Department, situate in Co. Kildare, on the 29th June, 1931, the nearest date to that mentioned in the question, for which figures are available, and on the 30th June, 1930, and 1st July, 1929, the corresponding weeks in the two previous years, were as follow:—

Agricultural labourers registered as unemployed on these dates are included in these figures. I have no particulars as to agricultural labourers not registered.
