Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Scheme Development.

Seán F. Lemass asked the President when the proposals regarding the Shannon Scheme, referred to in his reply to a Parliamentary question on May 20th, will be laid before the Dáil.

The President: The proposals of the Minister for Industry and Commerce will be laid before the Dáil as soon as the requisite financial particulars have been furnished by the Electricity Supply Board. The Board is expediting the preparation of these particulars, but it is not possible to state a precise date for their completion.

Mr. Lemass: Will the President state whether the financial particulars referred to by him are the accounts which the Electricity Supply Board are statutorily obliged to supply to the Minister?

The President: I think not.

Mr. Lemass: Will the President state when these accounts will be published?

The President: Oh, no.

Mr. Lemass: Is the President aware that their publication is long overdue?

The President: I understand that that question was raised by Deputy Fahy on the Estimate a short time ago.

[806] Mr. Lemass: Will the President state whether the proposals referred to will be submitted before the rising of the Dáil?

The President: I expect so. I expect that they will be submitted within the next fourteen days. That will be before the Dáil .
