Dáil Éireann - Volume 39 - 24 June, 1931 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Inspectorate Staff. Mr. G. Boland Mr. G. Boland Mr. G. Boland asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Inspectorate Staff of the Land Commission has been recently re-organised; and if he will give the following particulars in respect of each established or unestablished inspector appointed: (a) grade; (b) years of service; and (c) salary. Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: A reorganisation of the Inspectorate Staff of the Land Commission is at present in progress. Full particulars of the number in each grade and the salary scales appear in the Estimates for the current year. The number of years' service of the permanent Inspectors promoted ranges from 16 to 32 years. The temporary Inspectors promoted have served from 4 to 13 years. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland Mr. Boland: Would the Parliamentary Secretary state whether it is a fact that inspectors with only seven years' service have been put over the heads of persons with seventeen years' service? Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: If the Deputy would mention a particular case I could look into the matter, but I do not know of any such case as that to which the Deputy refers. Other factors besides length of service have to be taken into consideration. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland 805 [805] Mr. Boland: My information is that it is quite the other way, that competent people have been passed over. I would not like to mention a particular case as it is not the rule here to mention names. Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: I am informed that the Deputy's statement is not in accordance with the facts. Mr. Derrig Mr. Derrig Mr. Derrig: The Parliamentary Secretary states that the average number of years' service of the permanent Inspectors promoted ranged from sixteen to thirty-two years. Are we to take it from that that no Inspector under sixteen years' service has got promotion under the reorganisation scheme? Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: That is the average proposed in the scheme. The reorganisation scheme is not yet complete. Dáil Éireann 39 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.
