Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building Costs under Gaeltacht Housing Scheme.

[802] Tomás O Deirg asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the estimated average cost of building a new house of three, four or five rooms, respectively, under the Gaeltacht Housing Scheme.

Mr. Lynch: The quotations under the scheme of joint purchase arranged in pursuance of Section 12 of the Act are at present under consideration. The average cost of materials for three-roomed, four-roomed and five-roomed houses will be approximately £65, £95, and £110, respectively. The cost of skilled labour would average from £40, £50 and £60, respectively, upwards. The stones and unskilled labour are ordinarily supplied by the applicant himself.
