Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loan to Fishermen.

Mr. Everett asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is yet in a position to state when proposals [1248] for legislation will be introduced for the purpose of recasting loans at present under repayment by fishermen, as already promised.

Minister for Lands and Fisheries (Mr. Lynch): I expect to be able to introduce the necessary legislation at an early date.

Mr. Everett: Is the Minister aware that the unsettled conditions in connection with this matter are preventing a large number of fishermen from becoming members of the new association?

Mr. Lynch: I have been informed that there is some difficulty in that respect, but the matter will be solved very early.
