Mr. Aiken asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the amount of the cash subsidy paid under Section 1 of the Beet Sugar (Subsidy) Act, 1925, and (b) the amount of sugar duty remitted in favour of the Irish Sugar Manufacturing Co., Ltd., in each financial year since the establishment of the Carlow Sugar Factory.

Following is the reply:—

(a) The amount of direct subsidy paid under Section 1 of the Beet Sugar (Subsidy) Act, 1925, to the Irish Sugar Manufacturing Company, Limited, for each year since the Carlow Sugar Factory commenced operations was as follows:—
