Mr. MacEntee Mr. MacEntee Mr. MacEntee asked the Minister for Finance to state the number of persons in the financial years 1926-27 1927-28 and 1928-29, respectively, (1) from whom a return of income for income tax purposes was required; (2) who were assessed for income tax; (3) who claimed allowances: (a) as married persons, and (b) in respect of earned income. Minister for Finance (Mr. Blythe) Ernest Blythe 2 [2] Minister for Finance (Mr. Blythe): I would refer the Deputy to my replies to his questions of 18th March last and of 30th April, 1930. The required statistics are not available, and could not be compiled without considerable expense and without diverting the Revenue staff from the main work of the assessment and collection of tax.
