Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the number of applications which he has received for grants under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act, 1929, and the number of dwelling-houses which have been built under that Act in each of the following counties: Donegal, Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry and Mayo. Minister for Lands and Fisheries (Mr. Lynch) Fionán Lynch 421 Minister for Lands and Fisheries (Mr. Lynch): The total number of applications received to date for grants under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act, 1929, was as follows:—Donegal, 1,905; Clare, 187; Cork, 1,233; Galway, 2,563; Kerry, 1,981; Mayo, 2,217. As the time taken to build completely a house [421] under the scheme is between a year and 18 months, very few houses have been completed up to the present. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: Could the Minister say how many houses have been built? Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch: I do not know that there are any. Under the scheme it is supposed to take between a year and eighteen months to complete a house. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: Could the Minister say how many houses are in course of construction? Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch: I might have ascertained that if the Deputy had asked me that. If he had put down that question I would have found out how many. Mr. E. Doyle Mr. E. Doyle Mr. E. Doyle: Could the Minister say if there is any possibility of extending the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act to Kilkenny and other parts of Ireland? Mr. Coburn Mr. Coburn Mr. Coburn: Would the Minister say if he has got any applications from Louth? Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch Mr. Lynch: I should have notice of that question. Of course, I was not asked that in Deputy Cassidy's question. But, as a matter of fact, I do think that there have been applications from Omeath.
