Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the reason why an old age pension was refused to Peter McGee, of Brinalack, Gweedore, Co. Donegal. Minister for Local Government and Public Health (General Mulcahy) Richard (General) Mulcahy Minister for Local Government and Public Health (General Mulcahy): An appeal at present under consideration in this case has been referred to a general inspector for local investigation. A decision on the appeal will be given as soon as possible. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why an old age pension award made by the Dunfanaghy Old Age Pension SubCommittee in respect of Mrs. Sheelah Gallagher, of Middle Dore, Bunbeg, Co. Donegal, has been disallowed by his Department. General Mulcahy General Mulcahy General Mulcahy: An appeal in this case was decided on the 14th January, 1930. It was determined that the claimant was not entitled to any pension, as it was not clear on the evidence submitted that she fulfilled the statutory qualifications as to age. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: As far as this lady is concerned she is unable to obtain her birth certificate. I have here a copy of her marriage certificate, in which her age is shown. On three occasions she has furnished affidavits from old people stating that she was over the stipulated age. What further evidence does the Minister's Department require? General Mulcahy General Mulcahy 809 [809] General Mulcahy: The Deputy, I have no doubt, has been supplied with the circular issued on the 30th April, 1924, dealing with applications for pensions and giving instructions and suggestions as to the lines upon which persons in the position of the lady in question shall proceed. If the Deputy desires, I shall send him another copy of that circular. Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy Mr. Cassidy: I shall be obliged. Dáil Éireann 34 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.
