Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dismissal of a Customs Watcher.

[3] Mr. Cooney asked the Minister for Finance if he received a letter addressed to him on February 25th last with reference to the dismissal of a Customs watcher named J. Collins, and if he is yet in a position to state what action, if any, he intends taking in this matter.

The President: A reply to the letter referred to was addressed to the Deputy on the 22nd instant. There is nothing to add to the information conveyed therein.

Mr. Cooney: I would like to ask the President if he would undertake to explain why a letter sent to the Department of Finance on 25th February was not acknowledged until 22nd March. Is it customary to have such delays in matters of that kind?

The President: That is another question.

Mr. Cooney: That was my principal reason for putting down the question.

The President: The Deputy should have stated that when he put it down.

Mr. Cooney: I desire to give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Motion for the Adjournment this evening.
