Dáil Éireann - Volume 33 - 13 March, 1930

Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Bill, 1930—Report Stage.

Question—“That the Bill be received for final consideration”— put and declared carried.

Minister for Defence (Mr. Fitzgerald): I think that there will be no objection to taking the Fifth Stage of this Bill now. It has to be [1799] through by the end of this month. The Bill was very adequately discussed on Second Reading, and it actually comprises nothing new.

Mr. Aiken: This is rather rushed. We did not get any notice that the Fifth Stage of the Bill was to be taken to-day. It could be taken tomorrow.

Mr. Fitzgerald: The Deputy will understand that there is a rush. This is the 13th March. The Bill has to be through by the end of this month, and it has to go to the Seanad. As I say, it comprises nothing new.

Mr. Aiken: I think it would do to-morrow just as well as to-day.

Objection taken. Fifth Stage ordered for Friday, March 14th.
