Dáil Éireann - Volume 32 - 04 December, 1929

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claim (Co. Wexford).

Mr. Corish asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit has been refused to John Doyle, Woodlands, Ballycarney, Ferns, Co. Wexford.

Mr. Hogan: John Doyle, of Woodlands, Ballycarney, Ferns, claimed unemployment benefit on the 26th of November, 1928, and his claim was disallowed on the ground that he was not unemployed. From this decision the claimant appealed and the case went to the umpire who finally decided that benefit could not be allowed. It, subsequently, transpired, however, that the employment in respect of which the contributions to Mr. Doyle's credit [1884] were paid was not insurable at all. He, thereupon, asked for the return of his contributions and these will be refunded to him at an early date.
