Ua Dubhghaill asked the Minister for Defence whether he [1097] has received any applications for the commutation of military service pensions or disability pensions from the recipients of such pensions, and, if so, if he will state whether he has acceded to any such applications, and if existing law does not permit the commutation of such pensions, whether it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation to enable him to do so. Such applications have not been acceded to, as there is no power under existing legislation to commute the pensions.
