Dáil Éireann - Volume 32 - 06 November, 1929 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Belgian Liquor Laws. Mr. Byrne Mr. Byrne Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for External Affairs whether he is aware that proposals have been drafted for submission to the Belgian Parliament upon its re-assembly next month, to alter the Belgian liquor laws, giving preferential treatment to the import of French wines, while virtually prohibiting the sale of the products of Messrs. Guinness & Co. in Belgium; and, in view of the fact that Belgian imports are five times greater in value than Saorstát exports to Belgium, what action, if any, he proposes to take to secure equality of treatment for Irish exports to Belgium with those of France. Mr. Hogan Mr. Hogan Mr. Hogan: It has been found necessary to have inquiries made from the Saorstát's representative abroad as regards the proposals stated to have been drafted. These inquiries have not yet been completed, and I must ask the Deputy to be so good as to repeat his question on 13th instant, when a reply will be given. Dáil Éireann 32 Ceisteanna—Questions.
