Tomás O Raghallaigh asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will state how many acres of land have been acquired for afforestation in County Kerry, and how many acres have been planted by his Department.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Hogan): No land in County Kerry has been acquired by my Department for afforestation purposes, and consequently there has been no planting. As intimated by me in previous replies on this subject, no land offered in the county has been regarded as suitable for purchase [431] for afforestation purposes, but should any offers of suitable land be received, the fullest consideration will be given to the matter.
