Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Courts of Referees.

Mr. Cassidy asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will furnish a list containing the names and addresses of the persons who constitute the various Courts of Referees established under the provisions [814] of the Unemployment Insurance Acts.

Mr. McGilligan: If the Deputy will communicate with me, indicating what useful purposes would, in his opinion, be served by the furnishing of such a list, I will consider the matter.

Mr. Cassidy: Let me inform the Minister that the reason I want the information asked for is because I would like to know the methods adopted by the Department in nominating the workers' representatives upon the Court of Referees.

Mr. McGilligan: What purpose will be served by giving the names and addresses?

Mr. Cassidy: What purpose has the Minister in withholding them?

Mr. McGilligan: I am not withholding them. I will give them privately to the Deputy if he wishes, but I am not going to give them publicly here until I know the purpose that will be served by doing so. If the Deputy wants to know the professional capacity of the Chairman of the Court of Referees, I will give it to him.

Mr. Cassidy: Is the Minister prepared if I go to his office to give a list of the names?

Mr. McGilligan: Certainly.
