Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Donegal Road Improvements.

Mr. Law asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether his attention has been called to a resolution of the Gweedore Parish Committee requesting that moneys should be made available this year for road improvements in the districts lying between Crolly Bridge and Gortahork, and between Derrybeg and Meenacladdy; and whether, in view of the fact that there has been no expenditure from the Road Grants for several years past in these districts the request will receive his favourable consideration.

Minister for Local Government and Public Health (General Mulcahy): My attention has been called to the resolution mentioned by the Deputy. On the 4th ultimo a grant of £9,782 for the improvement of certain roads was notified to the Donegal County Council. The County Council have unanimously approved of the proposed works. The sum of £9,782, with the sum of £19,337 notified on 21st March last towards cost of main roads, amounts to £29,119 and represents the full share of the county in the Road Fund for the present financial year.
