[1461] Mr. Shaw asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the Saorstát is being exploited by foreign syndicates and individuals for the sale of bogus sweep tickets, and if he will state what steps are being taken to protect the public from being victimised.

Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenney: My attention has been called to one such case in which tickets for sweepstakes on the Derby were issued from an address in London to persons resident in the Saorstát. The police in London were immediately informed so that they might take suitable action.
