Peadar S. O Dubhghaill asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the fact that the Betting Acts, 1926 and 1928, will expire on June 30th next, it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation in accordance with the recommendations contained in the Report of the Joint Betting Committee.

Mr. Blythe: It is intended to introduce legislative proposals to continue the Betting Act, 1926, in force until the 31st December next. In the meantime, the recommendations contained in the Report of the Joint Betting Committee are being examined with a view to the introduction of legislation of a permanent character to deal with betting.
