Deputy's Protest.

Mr. Esmonde: Would I be in order in drawing the attention of the House——

An Ceann Comhairle: The Deputy has not given me any notice of this question.

Mr. Esmonde: Precisely.

An Ceann Comhairle: I would like to have notice.

Mr. Esmonde: It is a question affecting the House and the Chair. It is only a technical or formal question. I merely wanted as a Private Deputy—not in any hostility—to enter a protest at the fact that a very distinguished and very high official of the Dáil, for whom I have the greatest respect, and who has always given the greatest satisfaction——

An Ceann Comhairle: What is the Deputy going to do? Is he going to protest against the action of an official of the Dáil?

Mr. Esmonde: Yes.

An Ceann Comhairle: The Deputy cannot do that without first giving notice.
