Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Burial Ground (Encroachment of the Sea).

Tomás O Raghallaigh asked the Minister for Local Government and [2090] Public Health whether he is aware that the sea is still claiming its toll from the Abbey Burial Ground, Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry, and that coffins containing bodies are being continually washed away by spring tides; and whether he now intends to take any steps to save the remaining bodies in this graveyard from the inroads of the sea.

Minister for Local Government and Public Health (General Mulcahy): The carrying out of the necessary work at the Abbey Burial Ground rests entirely with the Board of Health. On the 16th April sanction was issued to the Board of Health for the raising of a loan to defray the cost of the repairs to the sea wall.
