Seosamh O Cinnéide Seosamh O Cinnéide Seosamh O Cinnéide asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the number of estates in County Westmeath that have been vested under the 1923-27 Land Acts, their acreage, and the number of tenants thereon; also the number of estates remaining to be vested, their acreage, and the number of tenants thereon. Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: The number of estates in County Westmeath for which Schedules of Particulars have been lodged with the Land Commission is 197, comprising 1,638 holdings, and a total area of 59,400 acres. The Land Commission have published to date in Provisional Lists of lands to be vested 68 of these estates, comprising 450 holdings and a total area of 23,552 acres, of which 42 estates, comprising 166 holdings and a total area of 11,902 acres, have been already vested. Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: This estate has been surveyed, and it is anticipated that a Provisional List of lands which will, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, vest in the Land Commission on the appointed day under the Land Act, 1923, will be gazetted at an early date. Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: The Land Commission have had inquiry made regarding these lands of Dardistown, which are subject to a land purchase annuity, and have decided not to acquire them. Mr. Kennedy Mr. Kennedy Mr. Kennedy: Will the Parliamentary Secretary state if the Land Commission made an offer in this case? Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: Yes; the agents acting for the owner claimed an equivalent holding elsewhere. Mr. Kennedy Mr. Kennedy Mr. Kennedy: Can the Parliamentary Secretary state the amount of the offer? Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy Mr. Roddy: No, I cannot give the amount of the offer at the moment.
