Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Preparation of Irish Translations.

Mr. G. Boland (for Proinnsias O Fathaigh) asked the Minister for Education if he will state whether, in consequence of the right vested in the publication branch of his Department of deciding the type in which commissioned translations and adaptations shall be published, any writer has declined to prepare translations for publication by the Department?

[1529] Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenney (for Minister for Education): When the regulations of the Department regarding the type to be adopted for the publication of commissioned translations into Irish were made known, one writer declined to undertake a translation, and two other writers refused to complete for publication books on whose translation they were engaged.
