Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Old Age Pension Case.

Tadhg O Murchadha asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that in dealing with a recent application for the old age pension made by Timothy Hurley, Lettergorman, Dunmanway, the Pension Officer estimated the applicant received five pounds per year from his daughter in America; if he will state whether this is a general practice in estimating claims, and what justification there is for making such an assessment.

Mr. Blythe: The answer to the first part of the question is in the [738] affirmative. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to Section 2 (1) (b) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1911.
