Mr. Shaw asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the recent reduction in the price of tyres announced by the manufacturing companies has not been extended to the Saorstát; and whether he will make representations [548] to those companies with a view to the Saorstát participating in the price reductions.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. Dolan): The reductions in the price of certain tyres which took place a little over a week ago have not yet been adopted in the Saorstát, but I expect that they will be adopted when stocks in hand have been adjusted. If not, I will communicate with the tyre companies on the matter.
