Seoirse de Bhulbh Seoirse de Bhulbh 379 Seoirse de Bhulbh asked the Minister for Defence whether there is six months' pay due to Private Bernard Flanagan, Church View, Leixlip, Co. Kildare, late of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, who served as a shoemaker, and who was demobilised on August 11th, 1927, and, if so, whether he will direct this money to be [379] paid to this man, who is in very poor circumstances. Minister for Defence (Mr. Fitzgerald) Desmond FitzGerald Minister for Defence (Mr. Fitzgerald): Mr. Flanagan claimed arrears of six months' additional pay in respect of duties performed in the Battalion Shoemakers' Shop. Such pay is issuable only on the recommendation of the officer commanding a unit and on completion of a trade test. Mr. Flanagan was not recommended for such pay, and he did not undergo a trade test until subsequent to the period for which he claimed. His application was necessarily disallowed.
