Mr. T. O'Connell (for Mr. Morrissey) asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the number of reported accidents which have occurred on the Shannon Scheme construction and the Carlow Beet Factory respectively, each year since they have begun work, and how many have occurred during night work.

Mr. Dolan: The number of reportable accidents on the Shannon [849] Works in each year since their commencement has been:—

36 of which 2 occurred on night shift.

1926

397      do.    49            do.

1927

523      do.  127            do.

1928

453      do.  127            do.

1929 to Feb. 28th.

  72      do.    21            do.

At the Carlow Beet Factory the number of reportable accidents in each year has been:—

91 of which 2 occurred on night shift.

1927
