Proinnsias O Fathaigh asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state what would be the initial annual cost of increasing to £70 per annum the pensions of the 828 national teachers who are in receipt of pensions less than £70.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Blythe): The initial annual cost of increasing to £70 a year the pensions of retired teachers whose pensions are at present below that figure, would be slightly over £21,000.
