Dáil Éireann - Volume 28 - 22 February, 1929

Workmen's Compensation (Increase of Compensation) Bill, 1929—First Stage.

Mr. Rice: I beg leave to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1906, and the Acts amending that Act in respect of the amounts of compensation payable thereunder.

Leave granted.

Mr. Rice: Perhaps the Second Stage of this Bill could be taken next Wednesday.

Mr. McGilligan: I wonder would the Deputy postpone the Second Reading a little further? I assume from the title of this Bill that this question in respect of compensation will not be a simple matter. We have to consider the maximum figure and the matter of dependents' allowances. These are intricate things and I would like to see the Bill compared with the Report of the Commission.

Mr. Rice: What date does the Minister suggest?

Mr. McGilligan: This day week.

Second Stage fixed for Friday, 1st March.
