Dáil Éireann - Volume 28 - 20 February, 1929

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax Assessments.

Mr. Derrig (for Mr. Flinn) asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the exact number of assessments for income tax made for 1923-24 to 1927-28, inclusive, under Schedules A, B, C, D and E.

Mr. Blythe: It is not possible to give complete figures for any of the [4] years of assessment mentioned. Assessments for even the earliest of those years can be made up to the 5th April, 1930. It is, however, possible to give the numbers of assessments made in the year 1926-27— i.e., the total number of assessments made during that year in respect of the year 1926-27, together with additional assessments in respect of earlier years made during the year 1926-27. These figures are as follow:—

Schedule.

B

C

D

E

Figures of assessments made in other years cannot be given without diverting part of the staff of the Revenue Department to the work of preparing special statistics with a consequent reduction in the yield of revenue for the year.
