Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repairs to Lahinch Promenade.

Pádraig O hOgáin (An Clár) asked the President if a recommendation was made to the Department of Finance by him for a grant towards repairing the promenade at Lahinch, Co. Clare, in accordance with an undertaking given by him to a deputation of residents of that town when he visited it less than two years ago.

The President: I found on making inquiries that the maintenance of the promenade at Lahinch is a matter [3] within the powers of the County Council. The Department of Finance is not prepared to make moneys available for the purpose.

Mr. Hogan: Is the President aware that the County Council unanimously asked the President to receive a deputation in connection with the matter and that he declined to receive a deputation?

The President: I do not think that the facts are as the Deputy says.
