CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CO. DONEGAL BOAT SLIP.

Mr. BLANEY asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state whether the representations from a number of fishermen and residents of the Fanad Peninsula, Co. Donegal, relative to the proposed construction of a boat-slip at Ballywhiriskey have been considered by his Department.

MINISTER for LANDS and FISHERIES (Mr. F. Lynch): I am not aware of representations, as mentioned, having been made in this case.

Mr. BLANEY: Is the Minister aware that 15 or 16 fishermen are employed in this area in the salmon fishing industry, and that in order to land a take of salmon they have to jump out of the boat to their waists in water. Will the Minister consider the advisability of sending an inspector with a view to having a slip erected? It would not cost more than £100.

Mr. LYNCH: No representations have been made to me by fishermen from the district except what the Deputy mentioned now. I will have the matter looked into.
