WRITTEN ANSWERS. - RECONSTRUCTION OF LEIX SCHOOL.

Mr. DAVIN asked the Minister for Finance whether he is now in a position to sanction payment of the amount due to the local manager for the reconstruction of the school at Errill, Ballybrophy, Leix.

Mr. BLYTHE Mr. BLYTHE

Mr. BLYTHE: A grant of two-thirds of the expenditure as certified by the Commissioners of Public Works has been sanctioned by the Department of Education in aid of the cost of enlarging and improving this school. The school being non-vested does not qualify for State aid for building and improvement works and the grant has been sanctioned conditionally on the vesting of the school premises in local trustees. The necessary lease is being prepared and as soon as it has been signed by the several parties payment of the grant will be made by the Board of Works.
