Mr. LEMASS Mr. LEMASS Mr. LEMASS asked the Minister for Justice if it is a fact that the houses of the president, secretary and treasurer of the Drogheda Fianna Fáil Cumann were raided by members of the Gárda Síochána on November 5th, 1928, and, if so, whether he will state the purpose of the raids and the information on which the Gárda acted. Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY: The houses of six persons in Drogheda were searched on the 5th instant by the police under authority of a search warrant. Amongst the six persons I understand that three of them were president, secretary and treasurer of the Drogheda Fianna Fáil Cumann respectively. The purpose of the search was to find hidden firearms. I am not prepared to state the information on which the police acted. Mr. LEMASS Mr. LEMASS Mr. LEMASS: Does the Minister state that the searches were made for the purpose of discovering firearms?
