Mr. FRENCH asked the Minister for [1520] Local Government and Public Health if he will state the Government's intentions in reference to the Report of the Commission on the Relief of the Sick and Destitute Poor.

General MULCAHY: Appropriate administrative action is taken, as opportunities occur, to give effect to such recommendations of the Poor Law Commission Report as are acceptable and can be adapted without legislation. Such matters as would require legislation have been and are at present under consideration, with a view to legislation.

Mr. HOLT: Might I ask the Minister when that legislation will be introduced?

General MULCAHY: Anyone knowing the range of subjects dealt with in the Poor Law Commission Report could hardly put a question like that. There are a very large number of questions involved and the report may take several pieces of legislation.
