TOMAS O CONAILL TOMAS O CONAILL TOMAS O CONAILL asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he can state (a) the amount paid into the Road Fund under the heading of Motor Taxation and “the sixpenny tax,” respectively, from County Mayo during the years 1922 to 1927; and (b) the total amount paid to the Mayo County Council for road construction and maintenance from the Road Fund during the same period. General MULCAHY General MULCAHY General MULCAHY: As regards (a), the amounts are approximately as follows:—
2175 As regards (b), the total Road Fund grants indicated to County Mayo in the years 1922-1927 were £192,238. The county surveyor's estimate for repair [2175] of bridges was £24,697, making a total of £216,935. The total amount paid from the Road Fund for road construction and maintenance was £120,977, and £23,698 in addition was paid in respect of the repair of damaged bridges.
